March 2021

MARCH 2021 - LOOKING TO THE YEAR AHEAD

With the end of Lockdown in sight, Give a Child a Brighter Future would like to share with you the with the achievements of 2019 - 2020.

The charity is forever grateful for your continued support during the incredible difficulties faced by Lebanon. The economic crisis combined with the onset of the pandemic has crippled the country.

After the horrendous explosion in Beirut on August 4th, Give a Child a Brighter Future has been hard at work behind the scenes.

With your generous donations the money we raised went to:

  • $15,500 for a new dialysis machine at The Hayek Hospital.
  • $13,000 was donated to the Association des Enfants Malade des Reins, to help children in our dialysis centre.
  • $24,000 Donation to various charities on the ground providing urgent relief for food shortages after the blast on August 4th. We distributed 2000 boxes of milk and 460 dried food boxes.
  • $5000 Donation to SOS Charity, to provide warm winter clothing for underprivileged children in their care.
  • Give a Child also distributed urgently needed medicines to villages in Baalbek, Hermel, Bint Jbeil, Chartoum and Meshmesh.

The Quarantina Hospital

The Emergency Relief Fund allowed the charity to equip the badly damaged pediatric unit at the Quarantina Hospital. The charity provided them with a new respiratory machine to the value of $75,000.

The Baabda Hospital

With a donation of $74,509, the charity was able to successfully complete a new fully equipped Pediatric unit at the end of 2019.

The Hayek Hospital

Give A Child A Brighter Future donated $15,500 for a new dialysis machine to the dialysis center at the Hayek hospital. The Give a Child dialysis unit at Hayek Hospital provides dialysis for poor Lebanese and non-Lebanese children (Syrians, Iraqis) who do not have medical coverage.

1872 pediatric dialysis sessions are carried out per year for children coming from different regions of Lebanon. The Charity covers transport, blood tests, radiology exams as well as the full coverage of hospitalization of children undergoing dialysis treatment. No child has died in the Give a Child unit despite the Covid epidemic. In the past 2 years ten children have had kidney transplants.

At this difficult time in Lebanon the help Give a Child a Brighter Future provides is vital and essential for the follow-up of children in the pediatric dialysis unit.

The Charity was very proud to be chosen by the wife of the Belgium Ambassador to Lebanon as a platform to donate clothes for Teenage Girls from The Maison Essentiel which were duly distributed.

Speech Therapy & Psychomotor Center

During lockdown, Give a Child a Brighter Future successfully transferred it’s Speech Therapy and Psychomotor Learning program online. Although not all children had access to the internet, the teachers were happy to report that they were able to retain 39 out of the 54 students.

With the easing of lockdown restrictions the center will be re-opening, and looks forward to 100% attendance. All necessary covid safety measures will be applied to create a safe environment for the returning children.

Give a Child a Brighter Future is forever grateful for your continued support and generosity during the unbelievably difficult times facing the Lebanese people.
