Lisa Moufarrige Centre at Hammoud Hospital
Through its partnership with Hammoud Hospital University Medical Center, Give a Child a Brighter Future is helping provide life-saving care to children across South Lebanon, ensuring that young patients facing cancer can access the treatment they urgently need.
At the heart of this effort is the Lisa Moufarrige Paediatric Haematology Oncology Center, a dedicated facility designed to expand access to specialised care while offering children and their families renewed hope during some of life’s most difficult moments.
The centre is named in loving memory of Lisa Moufarrige (1969–2023), a deeply valued committee member whose compassion, dedication, and tireless work with the charity helped make this project possible. Her legacy lives on through the children and families who now receive vital care at the centre.
A Dedicated Space for Treatment and Care
Since opening in October 2023, the centre has provided a welcoming, fully equipped space to support children through complex treatment. Building on a unit first established in 2020, it now serves as a key referral centre for paediatric patients across South Lebanon. The facility includes seven specialised patient rooms, infusion and inpatient treatment areas, procedure rooms, and a dedicated dialysis unit for children, bringing essential services together in one place.
This integrated approach allows children to receive treatment closer to home, easing the burden on families and supporting continuity throughout their journey. Care is delivered by highly trained medical, nursing, and pharmacy teams, working closely with specialists at the American University of Beirut Medical Center to maintain a high standard of diagnosis and support. The centre treats patients from birth to 18 years old, working in partnership with the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon to improve access, including financial support for those in need, while offering a full range of services such as chemotherapy and targeted therapies.
Growing Impact
Since opening, the centre has supported a growing number of children with serious haematological and oncological conditions. In 2024, it welcomed 24 new paediatric oncology cases, each receiving personalised care. By 2025, that number had risen to 47, highlighting both the increasing need for specialised services and the vital role the centre now plays in the region.
Beyond cancer care, the centre also treats a range of blood and immune disorders, including rare conditions and chronic illnesses such as thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia. Many of these treatments are provided free of charge, helping ensure that no child is denied care due to financial barriers.
Alongside oncology services, the centre runs a paediatric dialysis programme and has supported additional life-saving interventions, including complex surgeries such as open-heart procedures, reflecting a broader commitment to supporting vulnerable children and their families.

A Future Filled with Hope
For many children, access to this centre means the chance to receive treatment, regain strength, and look ahead to the future with hope. With the right care and support, children facing serious illness are given the opportunity not only to survive, but to heal, grow, and reclaim their childhood.
Each child who walks through the doors of the centre is a reminder of why this work matters and what can be achieved when compassion, partnership, and dedication come together.
