Through its ongoing work in Lebanon, Give a Child a Brighter Future is helping strengthen emergency medical care for children by equipping a new Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Turkish Trauma & Emergency Hospital, providing life-saving support to critically ill patients across the region. The hospital, which reopened in November 2024, had remained inactive for years due to local political challenges before being restored to address the critical shortage of hospitals in South Lebanon. Today, it stands as the only Trauma and Emergency Centre in the region, playing a vital role in delivering urgent care. Strengthening Emergency Care for Children At the heart of this effort is the newly equipped Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, designed to provide specialised care for children facing severe illness or injury. The unit includes five dedicated treatment rooms fitted with essential medical equipment, including respirators, patient monitoring systems, ultrasound imaging, and diagnostic tools, ensuring that children can receive the highest level of care when they need it most.

Through its partnership with SESOBEL , Give a Child a Brighter Future is helping children with disabilities access specialised support, providing 49 custom-designed electric wheelchairs that transform daily life for children and their families. Founded to support children with disabilities and their families, SESOBEL has long worked to ensure that every child is treated with dignity and given the opportunity to reach their full potential. A Tailored Approach to Care In 2024, this collaboration led to the delivery of 49 custom-designed assistive wheelchairs, each carefully adapted to meet the specific needs of the children receiving them. These wheelchairs are designed to support children in their everyday lives, whether at home, in therapy, or at school. By providing the right level of comfort and support, they help children take part in activities that might otherwise be out of reach. For many children, receiving a wheelchair is not just about movement. It is about gaining confidence, feeling included, and experiencing a greater sense of freedom.

As Lebanon continues to face the impact of ongoing conflict, many children and families have been displaced or are living in increasingly difficult conditions, with limited access to essential care. In response, Give a Child a Brighter Future has strengthened its efforts to provide urgent medical support and emergency relief, working in partnership with leading hospitals and specialists across the country. As part of this work, the charity began collaborating with Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah and The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children's Fund , bringing together expertise in treating children affected by conflict. The partnership was first announced in this video presented during the Annual Bazaar luncheon in 2024, in response to the war in Lebanon and the growing number of children in need of specialised care. The partnership focuses on both life-saving care and long-term recovery, including support for children in intensive care and those requiring reconstructive surgery, while also strengthening local healthcare capacity.
